How to Get Rid of Side Fat - 10 Tips

The Ugly Truth About Stubborn Belly Fat Side Fat and Back Fat

Side fat is just like any other fat in your body.

It just so happened that it has chosen your midsection area as its unfortunate dwelling place.

And I say unfortunate because the truth is, it is very easy to pack on fat in your midsection belly area but biology makes it extra difficult to melt them off.

How to Get Rid of Side Fat

Don’t lose hope!

Those love handles didn’t grow overnight so it’s going to take a while to get rid of them.

Though some people are genetically predisposed to having side fat, the perfect combination of diet, lifestyle changes and exercise can melt off your love handles.

Here are 10 tips you can actually start doing now!

1. Eat clean

This is easy to say but definitely challenging to actually do!

Eating clean can be pretty hard, especially if you’re used to quick meals you can pop in the microwave or if you’re fond of eating fast food.

But trust me when I say, your body will reap the benefits of eating clean and it is THE way to lose weight fast!

Start with taking out refined and processed food from your pantry and refrigerator.

Stock up on fresh produce like your favorite fruits and vegetables so you won’t be tempted (and have access) to junk food in the house.

If daily food prep isn’t your thing, dedicate a day or two to prepare everything you need for the whole week.

It’ll save you time while still allowing you to eat clean.

2. Drink water

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! I often “feel hungry” only to realize

I’m just thirsty and I’m pretty sure it happens to you too! Here’s what I do.

Whenever I feel like I want to eat something, I drink water and wait it out.

The supposed hunger pangs usually go away, which means I wasn’t really hungry in the first place.

Drinking water is one effective way to get rid of stubborn belly fat fast.

3. Choose your carbs wisely

Go for good whole carbohydrates like sweet potatoes, legumes, oats, bananas, etc. instead of consuming refined carbs such as white bread, white pasta, cookies and pastries which are loaded with sugar.

Processed carbohydrates not only leave you sugar high.

They are also very low in fiber compared to whole carbs.

4. Fiber up!

Speaking of fiber… here’s one way to trick your body into feeling “full”: eating fiber-rich food!

Soluble fiber naturally suppresses your appetite, helping you lose weight in the process.

And, according to a study, eating at least 10 grams more soluble fiber cuts your chance of having belly fat by more than 3%!

5. Eat antioxidant-rich food

Eating food rich in antioxidants like berries and other superfoods such as green tea and matcha won’t banish your stubborn side fats.

However, these awesome food items help boost your metabolism which could affect the fuel and fat-burning mechanisms of your body.

Antioxidants also help fight inflammation, making your body more responsive to exercise.

6. Do some cardio

Even a 30-minute daily walk or jog will do wonders for your body!

A quick jog will jumpstart your body’s metabolism and burn calories even after you’re done running.

Aside from shedding at least 200 calories, jogging regularly also helps tighten and define your core muscles.

Being active physically is important in losing weight fast.

It is not so much the intense gym sessions, but just the fact that you are physically active every single day.

7. Don’t skip on strength training!

Cardio exercises alone won’t get rid of your love handles.

You have to strengthen your muscles as well!

And no, you don’t have to lift weights for strength training (although you can do that too).

You might not know it but pilates and yoga are great strength training workouts that uses your own body weight to keep your muscles strong and healthy.

Some also make use of resistance bands and resistance balls to toughen up their muscles!

8. Get rid of belly fat with side fat-burning exercises

Stubborn belly side fat is wrapped around your external oblique muscle, a flat and thin muscle found in your abs.

In order to get rid of fat, you’d have to tone down that muscle by doing ab-area specific exercises whenever you can.

There are tons of exercises out there that target your love handles like side planks, bicycle crunches, push-ups, side crunches and more!

9. Unwind and de-stress

Stress is a contributing factor to fat formation.

Cortisol, aka the stress hormone, is directly involved in fat storage and in some cases, weight gain.

How? This hormone transports fat from other parts of the body to the fat reserve found in your abdomen.

And it does this for a good reason: to help your body get ready to combat stress, including low blood sugar levels and inflammation.

It’s no wonder why you’re packing on spare tires quite fast while you’re constantly under stress!

But how do you unwind and de-stress?

Simple: do the things you love!

If you didn’t have the job you have now or if you weren’t doing what you have been doing for the past years, where can or would I find you? Do something that makes you happy.

Perhaps an old hobby you’ve brushed aside?

A much-needed movie date?

10. Get enough sleep

Not getting enough sleep can also make you fat.

Sleep deprivation affects leptin, a hormone responsible for inhibiting hunger in your body.

Lack of sleep drops leptin levels, telling your body that you are short on food by activating hunger pangs.

But what you really need is sleep, not food!

The Skinny on Stubborn Belly  Side Fat

Side fat may have been born in the kitchen but it’s more than just a testament to overindulging.

Sometimes, not so healthy food choices, a close to sedentary lifestyle, the stress and buzz of daily life all lead to love handles that are neither lovable nor easy to handle.

And although side fat is seemingly omnipresent, it’s definitely not welcome!

Or at least not that welcome to your favorite dress or go-to pair of jeans.

The good thing is, so long as you start taking steps from this article “How to Get Rid of Side Fat” to kick side fat to the curb, you’ll melt away those love handles in no time!
