Vitamix 5200 vs 5300_ Which Is Better For Your Weight Loss Journey

Vitamix 5200 vs 5300 – Motor

The first feature we're going to check is their motors.

A blender’s power relies heavily on the capacity of its motor.

Let’s see what the 5200 and 5300 can offer.

Vitamix 5200 – The 5200 is straight up powerful thanks to its 2 hp motor that can turn your ingredients into tasty smoothies or dips in seconds.

Vitamix 5300 – Meanwhile, the 5300 is equipped with a 2.2 hp motor, slightly higher than what the 5200 has.

It also provides more torque and better cooling

Winner: 5300, slightly. In fact, you might not even notice the difference even if it has better cooling.

But in case you do, please know it’s because the 5300 has a 0.2 higher motor power than 5200.

Vitamix 5200 vs 5300 – Noise Level

Blenders are also known for being noisy.

Although it should be a good sign since noisiness means more power, the thing is, not everyone is a huge fan of it.

If you are one of those people who is easily triggered by noise then this will help you a lot.

Vitamix 5200 – The Vitamix 5200 is quite noisy because of its strong motor and housing.

Vitamix 5300 – The 5300 is almost at the same noise level as the 5200. However, this is slightly louder due to its more powerful motor.

Winner: Tie? It depends, actually. If you don’t mind the noise then 5300 is the better model for you.

But if you want something a bit quieter, then the 5200 is perfect.

Vitamix 5200 vs 5300 – User Interface

The interface is one of the most important parts of a blender.

Lucky for you, both the 5200 and 5300 boast an easy to understand user interface.

But there’s a slight difference between them, read the following to find out.

Vitamix 5200 – The interface of the 5200 features three different buttons; 10 Speed Dial on the centre, High/ Variable Speed Switch on the left, and the On/Off Button on the right.

The High/Variable Speed switch allows you to choose between using the blender’s maximum power (High) and other levels (Variable) by turning the speed dial with 1 being the weakest and 10 being the strongest.

This feature is very useful for when you want to make extra smooth smoothies or chop ingredients for your salsa and other dips.

Vitamix 5300 – The 5300 has almost the same interface as the 5200 but with one major difference, it has a built-in Pulse Switch.

Pulsing is one of the most useful features that a blender could have for it allows you to give your ingredients different textures.

This will definitely be handy especially when making salsa or when chopping fruits and vegetables.

The layout of their buttons is quite different as well, you’ll find the Pulse Switch on the left, the Speed Dial on the centre, and the Start/Stop Toggle on the right.

Winner: 5300. Yes, you can still pulse using the 5200’s High/Variable Speed Button but you will have to do it manually.

Unlike with the 5300’s Pulse Switch which is more convenient because all you have to do is press until you get the results you want.

Vitamix 5200 vs 5300 – Pitcher Size

Size does matter, especially in blenders.

The size of the pitcher is probably the easiest indicator of just how much the blender can process in one go.

So if you’re going to be making large portions of smoothies or salsas of different kinds from time to time then wouldn’t it be convenient to know just how much they could hold?

With that being said, let’s see who wins in the Vitamix 5200 vs 5300 – Pitcher Size criteria.

Vitamix 5200 – The 5200 boasts a 64 oz. container with a height of 20 inches, making it perfect for making family-sized portions or multiple servings at the same time.

This blender is also suitable to be used with smaller pitchers such as the 48 oz. and 20 oz. one, but they are sold separately.

Vitamix 5300 – This newer Vitamix model also features a pitcher with a 64 oz. capacity.

The only difference between them is that this one is only 17.25” tall.

How did that happen?

The 5300 pitcher’s base is wider compared to what the 5200 has. It is also compatible with smaller pitchers like the 48 oz. and 20 oz.

Winner: 5300. Why? It’s because although they have the same capacity, the 5300’s pitcher is more compact.

This means it will be easier to store in standard-sized kitchen cabinets than the 5200’s 20-inch pitcher.

Vitamix 5200 vs 5300 – Blades

The blade is very important as well, because how else would you cut your ingredients if it’s dull?

Luckily though, both 5200 and 5300 feature sharp blades.

But which one is better?

Let’s find out.

Vitamix 5200 – The 5200 features a laser-cut stainless steel blade with a diameter of 3 inches.

It’s dull when touched but is absolutely sharp when the machine is turned on.

Vitamix 5300 – This newer model has the same blade as the 5200 but is 1-inch wider.

The 5300 requires a wider blade because it has a less narrow pitcher compared to the 5200, therefore, it has more space that it needs to cover.

Winner: 5300. The wider 4” blade means you can cover a larger area. It also makes the 5300’s blade more efficient compared to the 3-inch one present in the Vitamix 5200.

Vitamix 5200 vs 5300 – Safety

A good blender must have its own safety system to make it last longer.

Good news though is that both the 5200 and 5300 have systems to keep them working efficiently for a long time.

The question is, which one is better?

Let’s find out.

Vitamix 5200 – This blender is equipped with built-in radial cooling fans to prevent the machine from overheating after long use.

Vitamix 5300 – The 5300 boasts the same built-in radial cooling fans.

But on top of that, it also comes with a thermal protection system which can keep the machine cool and efficient for a longer time.

Winner: 5300. The additional thermal protection system makes the 5300’s potential life span longer than the 5200.

Vitamix 5200 vs 5300 – Cleaning

Having the ability to clean your blenders with ease is an important thing you need to remember when you’re shopping for one.

The good thing about these two though is that they are very easy to clean.

However, one is easier than the other.

Read the following to find out which blender wins this category.

Vitamix 5200 – You can clean the 5200 manually with the use of a cleaning sponge and some dish soap.

But if you want to go down an easier route, use the blender’s self-clean capability.

Just pour some water and a bit of dishwashing liquid then turn the machine.

First at low speed and then increase it until the water and soap combo reached the top of the pitcher.

Vitamix 5300 – The 5300 can also be cleaned the same way as the 5200.

But this one is easier to clean since it has a wider pitcher.

Winner: 5300. The wider base of the 5300’s pitcher makes it easier for your hand to move and clean the whole area better.

Vitamix 5200 vs 5300 – Price

Blenders aren’t exactly among the cheapest kitchen appliances out there.

But with the kind of things they can do, it’s definitely recommended to spend a little more to get the most out of them.

Both the Vitamix 5200 and 5300 have prices for their brand new and refurbished units.

Check out how affordable they are below.

Vitamix 5200 – The price for the 5200 varies depending on where you’ll buy it.

If you go to the Vitamix’s own website, you’ll find it at $449.95 but when you go to Amazon, you’ll be able to get it at $439.89 for the 64 oz. variant.

The refurbished version of the Vitamix 5200 is also available in Amazon for a price starting at $329.95.

Vitamix 5300 – The 5300’s also varies depending on the store.

Vitamix’s own website prices it at $529.95 while on Amazon it’s around $389.99 for the 64 oz. capacity.

Meanwhile, the refurbished version of the 5300 is at $359.95 on the Vitamix website and $328.41 on Amazon.

Winner: 5200 because it’s cheaper in most online stores.

But if you’re going to put all of the 5300’s extra features in consideration, then adding a couple more bucks doesn’t seem to be a bad idea after all.

Plus, the refurbished 5300 is cheaper by at least $1 on Amazon compared to a reconditioned 5200 model.
