Eat More Protein

One way to speed up your metabolism as you grow older is by consuming more protein.

It is important to focus on building muscles.

Building muscles burns fat in a fast way, but requires also lots of protein to be consumed.

The problem is that most of the people have the larger part of their protein consumption at dinner time.

Spread this throughout the day in small portions and your body will build more muscle.

If you are having a hard time getting enough protein in, then think of protein powder as a viable solution. 

You can start the day with a protein shake.

Try to shake things up and have different sources of protein. From a cooked egg in a salad to grilled chicken.

These type of protein are not expensive at all and you can get them everywhere.

Don’t Finish The Plate of Your Toddlers

Children have not developed a preference for healthy food like sprouts, spinach and other of that good stuff.

Most likely they prefer chicken nuggets, French fries, pizza and hamburgers over vegetables.

They have all the right to prefer those over the other.

What happens is that most of the time they do not finish their plate. 

At the end of the meal you will find yourself finishing their plate because you find it a waste of food. 

While this type of food is not that bad for your children at all, it is harmful to you.

This is one way of how people are gaining weight and are unaware of it.

Be cautious of these type of processes and do not touch it.


We usually have exact timeslots when go and eat, this is one way of keeping the family under control and have some sense of order in our house.

This might force us to eat over and over again. Even when we are not hungry.

It is not rocket science that we gain weight when we eat just to eat.

Our body stores the extra sugar and energy as fat. It would be way better if our body would first start by burning that extra fat stored.

One way to do this is to fast!

Start eating only when you are hungry again and not because you are bored. Listen to your body.

It is perfectly okay to not eat for a period of 14 hours.

In this 14-hour period you will give your body plenty of time to burn that extra stored fat.

Also pay attention for when you are eating. Eat until you are not hungry anymore. Don’t eat until you feel full.

Don’t drink calories

We all know that sodas are full of sugar and mostly the main culprit when it comes to weight gain.

This silent food fills your body with lots of sugar and makes your body insulin resistant and store more fat.

Lots of people compromise this by having diet sodas.

Then they tell themselves that there is not any sugar in these diet drinks.

The truth is that these diet drinks are full of additives that are even more harmful to our body then sugar.

They make you still gain weight.

The best way is to remove sodas altogether from your diet. 

Focus on drinking only water, black coffee and green tea. In short only unsweetened drinks.

These will help you lose weight in a smart way. 

Drinking water will make you feel full and therefore you will snack less. 

Coffee and tea are both full of caffeine and antioxidants that are good for your body.

Improve your sleep

A bad sleep has a huge impact on the following day.

It makes us tired, grumpy and we do not have any control of ourselves on that given day.

It also affects our metabolism and makes us snack more and crave for more “bad” foods.

This makes us gain weight pretty fast. 

Put a big priority on the quality of your sleep and how you sleep.

There are lots of different ways to improve your sleep but here are the main things you can focus on.

1. Pay attention on which position you sleep the best. Do you feel more rested when you wake up after you slept on the left side of your body? Test different things out and write it down on paper for a week.

2. Use your bedroom only for sleep and sex only. Do not work or do anything else in it. This will give your body signals that your bedroom environment is only for relaxing purposes only and it will adapt accordingly.
